How to Make Cocktails with Rye Whiskey and White Whiskey

Honey Rye

Rye whiskey is a delicious spirit with a spicy or fruity flavor.  However, the drink is being drowned by the popularity of its cousins – the bourbon and scotch.  Nevertheless, rye whiskey has the capacity to stand on its own.  Lately, there has been a huge demand for rye whiskey.

At Minhas Distillery, they do things quite differently.  However, they still make a point to use common sense in what they do.  A good example of use of common sense is how you can combine two things that people love.  Two of such things are rye and honey.  What we did with them is we combined both to make a very delicious cocktail drink. and this is how you make a manhattan from scratch.

The ingredients needed for honey rye are

1 oz. Chinook Signature Rye Whiskey
1.5 oz. Honey Syrup (1 part water and 1 part syrup)
Couple of dashes of Bitters
Ginger Ale
Orange Peel

To make the honey rye, first get a glass and put some ice inside.  Then add the 1 ounce Chinook Rye Whiskey, the honey syrup, and then some dashes of bitters.  Stir the contents.  Be sure that you stir slowly so the contents will have time to cool down as it touches the ice.  If you believe your drink is cool enough, place some ginger ale inside it.  Finally, add some orange peel garnish.

A lot of people will love the honey rye because it has that subtle sweetness into it.  If you love rye and ginger, you will definitely love honey rye.

White Caesars

This is a change from the traditional Caesar that uses vodka.  Using whiskey adds the vanilla and creaminess of the whiskey, further complimenting the Caesar.

The ingredients needed for white Caesar are:

1 oz. Chinook White Whiskey
3 dashes of Worcestershire
2 dashes of Tabasco Sauce
Cracked Pepper
Steak Spice
Clamato Juice

To make the white Caesar, you have to present it perfectly.  To do this, you will need to rim your glass.  This is actually very simple to do.  First, take a lemon wedge and squeeze the juice on the glass with its juice covering both inside and outside of the glass.  Now take a plate of steak spice with pepper and spin the rim of your glass into the spice.  This will give it a nice rimming.

Once rimmed, place some ice cubes into the glass.  Add 2 dashes of Worcestershire and 2 dashes of Tabasco sauce – you may add more if you want it hotter.  Add the 1 ounce of Chinook White Whiskey and top the content with clamato juice.  Stir the content with a bartender spoon.  Garnish the glass with lime or pickle and serve.
